Meet Dr. Digrado

Chiropractor in Newport Beach : Dr. Mike Digrado
After just one treatment my severe chronic and constant back pain was 95% gone..

I was involved in a frightening car accident the summer before my senior year in high school. I broke my back. Fortunately the break was not in a place that left me paralyzed, but none the less, I sustained intense pain and discomfort for over 2 years. I did what I thought I was suppose to do. I went to my medical doctor first, then a physical therapist. Because of the type of break I had, they both prescribed pain medication, muscle relaxers and exercise. The pain and discomfort would never go away they said. I would need to learn to live with the pain.

I spent so much time in physical therapy, I decided to plan my career as a physical therapist. While studying to become a physical therapist, and still suffering with 2 years of chronic low back pain and severe shooting pain in my legs, I met a chiropractor at a local coffee shop. She asked me why I was studying my anatomy book at the coffee shop, so I relayed to her my career desire to become a Physical Therapist, and how it came to be via the car accident.

This chiropractor offered to take a look at my back and see if she could help alleviate the pain. Out of desperation I took her up on her offer. After just one treatment my severe chronic and constant back pain was 95% gone. I remember my pain being so severe at times that I could not stand up in the shower in the mornings. I could not believe how much relief I now had and how great I felt! I scheduled an appointment for the following day, and after my second treatment, I felt better than I did before the accident.

Career Path

After only 2 chiropractic treatments, for the first time in over two years I was pain free! I continued with a series of chiropractic treatments and not only was my pain a thing of the past, but now my whole body was feeling better! My energy levels were higher. I found I was happier, less stressed and was performing better in school. So much tension had been relieved from my body that I actually felt “high” on life.

I remember the evening I was driving home on the Pacific Coast Highway after a chiropractic treatment. It was the best I had ever felt in my life! Tears rolled down my face out of gratitude and appreciation. I wanted to give that feeling to someone else! Right then and there, I decided to become a chiropractor.

Chiropractic Education

I attended Life West Chiropractic College in the San Francisco Bay area. The first day was as difficult as the last, but it was so worth it in the end. My favorite subjects were neurology, radiology and anatomy dissection lab. During my last 6 months and during my chiropractic internship, I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Nick Athens and Dr. Matt Rivera, chiropractors for the San Francisco Giants and 49ers. After 6 months of working alongside both of them, I felt 100% prepared to start my own practice!
Dr. Mike Digrado Shares His Goal

My practice goal is to give back to my community what was given to me through chiropractic care. I believe in living a healthy and balanced life style through chiropractic care, eating healthy, being physically active through daily exercise and work outs. I understand that true health requires preventative care, and not just waiting till something is wrong.

I love sitting down with a patient and finding out their problems and health goals, and constructing a plan of action to help them achieve levels higher than their expectations. Over the last 10 years and having seen thousands of patients, I have seen just about everything. Today, with modern technologies of lasers, spinal decompression tables and good old fashion chiropractic care, there is no problem that cannot be improved.

On a Personal Note

My office is in Fashion Island, Newport Beach and I live in Corona del Mar. I love the area and I enjoy an active life style of riding my mountain bike through Crystal Cove and working out with my trainer, Tom Bazacus at the Newport Beach Athletic Club. My favorite activity is being out in the Pacific Ocean whether it’s on a boat, a surfboard or just simply being in the water.

I have my own chiropractor Dr. Derek Mason at Life Spring Chiropractic in Newport Beach. Dr. Derek and I adjust each other once a week and have been treating each other for over 10 years. I work out with Tom Bazacus at the Newport Beach Athletic Club 3 times a week and participate in the circuit training program he offers, which I highly recommend. In my younger years, while playing football, I used boxing as a way to train and keep in shape in the off season. I still enjoy boxing in my free time.

Now that you know a little about me I would like to know more about you. Please give us a call so I can help you take your first step towards being healthier.
